Thai Warrior Massage is an ancient traditional Thai Massage style practiced since before the 13th century, when it began to taught officially at Wat Pho. This massage technique was used to heal injured warriors returning from war. In 1767, Thai Warrior Massage was officially prohibited because the government considered it to be primitive. The teaching and practice of Thai Warrior Massage were forbidden in public places, but carried on in private. Enforcement grew at the middle of the Rattanakosin (King Rama VI, 1880 -1925 )period due to increased Westernization, leading Siam's transition into Thailand.

During the Adulyadej Period (King Rama IX 1950 to 2016), the King greatly supported all traditional Thai holistic medicine and massage approaches. This "renaissance" of traditional Siamese (Thai) holistic practices led to the resurgence of Thai Warrior Massage.

The modern Thai Warrior Massage is a combination between traditional Warrior Massage and Ruesri Datton (Traditional Thai Hermit Yoga), and is also known as yoga massage. The style was developed by Master Pathompon Aiyarattanaruk, a.k.a. Jack Sharman, in Thailand. The combinations of rhythmic massage, acupressure, gentle twisting, and deep stretching, aid in tension relief and promoting the balance of circulating life force energy in your body. Yes, this therapy will leave you feeling an extraordinary sense of well-being afterwards and benefits both the clients and therapist.

In 2017, Thai Warrior Massage gained prominence worldwide when practitioners were crowned champions in the most prestigious massage competition.

The competition was held in Copenhagen, Denmark from 3-4 June 2017 by The International Massage Association.
